HEADQUARTERS FOR UNO

MANHATTAN SITE DEDICATED

(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 13. The Manhattan site on which the United Nations will build its skyscraper headquarters was dedicated to-day at a ceremony at which the Mayor of New York, Mr William O’Dwyer, read a message from President Truman pledging anew American support for the peace agency “upon which the hopes of the world are founded.”

Most of the six-block site was given by Mr John D. Rockefeller, jun., and the remainder by New York City. The United Nations hopes to have its first building completed by the autumn of 1948 and to move in entirely within three years.
