USE OF WATER HEATERS
MR SEMPLE’S REPLY TO AUCKLAND MOTHERS <P ™ •’ „ AUCKLAND, April 9. Mrs Mary Dreaver. M.L.C., has telegraphed the Minister of Works (Mr R. Semple) as follows: "Auckland mothers want to know why hotels, boarding-houses, restaurants, and eatmg places are exempt from cuts in water-heating.’’ Mr Semple replied: “Sufficient water can be heated in small utensils tor all essentia] requirements, but this !s not possible in establishments such as hotels and restaurants depending on electric supply. Moreover, commercial water-heaters consume less than 1 per cent., and domestic heaters more than 27 per cent, of the total power used m the North Island for all purpose*.”
