CASH VOUCHERS TO BE USED
CURRENCY IN BRITISH ZONE OF JAPAN [New Zealand Official News Service.] KURE, March 25. With effect from May 6. special cash vouchers, instead of Japanese yen, will be used as currency in the British Commonwealth Occupation Force zone in Japan. These vouchers will be known as British armed forces special vouchers, and will be accepted as legal tender in 8.C.0.F. canteens, gift shops, hotels, clubs, messes, and institutes. The vouchers will be issued in denominations of £l, 10s,-9s, 2s 6d, Is 6d. 6a and 3d. They will *mt be legal tender outside Japan, and will not be when dealing with Japanese. Paymasters of the 8.C.0.F. are authored to exchange a cash voucher into yen should any member of the occupation force require yen for the purpose of buying from Japanese traders, is not oermittect however, to reconvert Japanese yen into cash , . vouchers. |
