METROPOLITAN CLUB

TROTTING

ACCEPTANCES The following acceptances have been received for the third day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting, which will be held on Satur-

Broke Down J. Behrns, who trains Gold Weed, which was favourite for the Intermediate Handicap at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday, stated after the race that the son of Wrack and Golden Nut had broken down, and that he would not be a starter in the Spreydon Handicap on the concluding day of the meeting. Improving After losing a lot of ground at the start of the Taranaki Trotting Club Handicap, Implacable took the lead before a mile had been covered. Mht he weakened with three furlongs to go? and was not placed. Paraded in the Farewell Handicap later in the day, Implacable raced well over the shorter distance to beat all but Indian Triumph Implacable worked well before being taken on the northern circuit by C. R. Berkett, and he should win a race on the trip. Promising Colt Besides Paul Parrish, Red Arrow, and Bardia, the Templeton trainer, D. Bennett. is handling a well-grown yearling colt by Springfield Globe from Pameltis. A speedy mare by Jack Potts from Amy Audubon, Pamelus has already left promising pacers in Red Arrow to Red Shadow and Grand Scott to U. Scott. Now trained by W. R. Butt, Grand Scott was seriously checked and lost all Chance when Red Flight fell in the Timaru Nursery Stakes at the Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting on March 8. A good-looking colt, Grand Scott is improving rapidly, and he may take part in the finish of the Welcome Handicap at Addington on Saturday. Should Win Soon Notus, which dead-heated with Snowilake for fourth place in the Papanui Handicap at Addington on Saturday, did not appear to have the best of luck in the running, and he should soon win a race for Mr C. E. Dillon, for whom he is trained by T. H. Gunning, Temuka. A six-year-old son of Dillon Hall and Charming Child, Notus has raced consistently for six minor placings in his last seven races. Finished Close Up Although they were unplaced, Royal Stone and Royal Dale, which are trained at New Brighton by G. Cameron, both trotted well to finish in fifth and sixth place respectively in the Intermeidate Handicap at Addington on Saturday, and they may win some of the prize-money in the Spreydon Handicap this week. From a Good Mare Besides Black Pegasus, the New Brighton trainer, C. Isaacson, has been handling a colt for Mr R. L. Ashcroft which is by Josedale Dictator from a good trotter in Pegasus Bay. which finished in the money in 23 of her 33 starts. A Guy Parrish mare, Pegasus Bay is a half-sister to Native Home, the dam of Maori Home, whiqji won at Addington on Saturday. Geraldine T.C.
