BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL’S EASY WIN CHRIST’S COLLEGE BEATEN BY NINE WICKETS further excellent bowling by D. J. Reid gave Christchurch Boys’ High School an easy nine-wickets win over Christ’s College in the annual cricket match, which concluded at the College ground yesterday. On the first day. Boys’ High School had scored 110, and College 86 and 17 for four wickets. Yesterday Reid took’ four wickets for six runs, finishing with a total of seven for 17, and College was all out for 45. Seven batsmen failed to score, and only 29 runs were made off the bat. Reid kept his slow-medium left-hand spinners well up, and his performance was a most meritorious one, on a good wicket. M. B. Poore, who was the most effective bowler in the first innings, took two cheap wickets and finished with a match analysis of seven foi 19. WIN FOR ST. ANDREW’S COLLEGE
St. Andrew’s College had a win over John McGlashan College (Dunedin) by an inhings and 126 runs when the annual inter-school cricket match was continued yesterday. St. Andrew’s scored 236 in the first day’s play and dismissed the visiting side for 64. Following on, the John McGlashan. team made only 43, P. DRAWN GAME BETWEEN SECOND ELEVENS
A slow-scoring game between the second elevens of Christ’s College and the Christchurch Boys’ High School was drawn. High School made 133 (Bennett 44, Penrose 25, Gillespie 24) and Christ's College 69 (Bremner 23). Following on, Christ’s College made 114 (Bransgrove 38). At stumps on the second day. High School had made 22 for the loss of five wickets, failing to secure an outright win by 29 runs. The outstanding bowler of the match was the Christ’s College player Lawrence. In the fir«t innings he took seven wickets for 29 runs, performing the hat trick in his last over, and in the second innings took fotlr for 15. In Christ’s College's first innings, Ditfort took four for 18. and Anderson four for 15, and in the second Ditford took four for 25 and Anderson four for 32.
WAITAKI’S RECORD SCORE
DOUBLE CENTURY TO M. P. BUCKENHAM (P.A.) OAMARU, March 20. A double century of 213 runs by M. P. Buckenham contributed to the record score of 464 for Waitaki in the secondary school cricket match against Timaru. Timaru were dismissed for 43 and 103, Waitaki thus winning by an innings and 218 runs.
VETERANS BEAT ARMY
Veterans beat Army Supply and Transport by 100 runs in a friendly game at Hagley oval on Wednesday. Scores:—Veterans 186 (N. Smith 43 retired. C. Goodwin 32 retired. D. Collie 20, L. Poole 20, F. Woods 19; D. Millard two for 27, M. Smith two for 13). Supply and Transport 86 (H. McMorran 31 retired, J. Causey 15, G. Fowke 14; C. W. Randall three for 13, S King two for 5).
