NEW AIR SERVICE FOR SOUTHLAND

NATIONAL CORPORATION’S PLANS

A new air service for Southland is to be provided by the New Zealand National Airways Corporation, probably next spring. There will be three aircraft a day each way between Invercargill and Dunedin, and the chairman of directors of the corporation (Sir Leonard Isitt) said yesterday that the service would probably be operated with Dominie machines. The new service will provide Invercargill with a much-improved air connexion, not only with Dunedin, but also with centres farther north. The Dominies will connect at Dunedin with aircraft to and from Auckland and Wellington, with Christchurch and Palmerston North as intermediate stops. It will be possible for passengers to leave Invercargill at 9.45 a.m. and arrive in Auckland at 4.30 p.m., or to leave Invercargill at 12.30 p.m. and arrive in Wellington at 4.35 p.m.
