ACCIDENTS
DRIVER KILLED CAR HIT BY TRAIN (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 20. A man was killed instantly when the car he was driving was hit by the New Plymouth-Wellington express at the Climie road level crossing, near Ngaere, this morning. He was George Thomas Finlay, a mechanic, aged 35, married, with two children, of Hawera. Finlay was the only person in the car. The car was in the middle of the crossing when it was struck by the express, which harried it about 20 chains before it stopped.
CAR AND TRAIN IN COLLISION
(PA.) LEVIN, March 20. A small rental car collided with a goods train going to Wellington at the Ohau crossing yesterday. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered a compound fracture of the skull, concussion and shock. He was Trevor Bradley, a young man, believed to reside in Rintoul street, Wellington. His parents live in Christchurch.
TWO MEN INJURED BY MACHINERY
Two men received injuries which necessitated their admission to the Christchurch Public Hospital when they were crushed by some machinery while working at Andersons, Ltd., yesterday afternoon. They were Jack O. Muschamp, 18 years, of 25 Marshland road, who suffered leg and shoulder injuries, and Clement Roden, 24 years, of S 5l Matsons road, who received head injuries. The condition of both men, who were taken to hospital at 4.35 p.m., was reported to be satisfactory last evening
