CONTROL OF SUMMIT ROAD RESERVE
CITY NEGOTIATIONS WITH LANDS DEPARTMENT Control of the Canterbury Women’s Pioneer Memorial Reserve will be assumed by the Christchurch City Council when agreement is reached with the Lands and Survey Department on details. The area of the reserve, which is in several lots along the Surrfc mit road from the Sign of the Kiwi to Evans Pass, is 401 acres. The largest of the reserves, known as Thompson’s Park, adjoins Victoria Park. It includes Sugar Loaf Hill and the bush towards Governor’s Bay. Some of the reserve is now let for grazing.
