DELEGATES FROM SOVIET

WELCOME BY BRITISH PARLIAMENT

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 15. The House of Lords and the House of Commons produced vodka and caviare at a* reception in the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords for 20 delegates from the Supreme Soviet. The Lord Chancellor (Lord Jowitt) and Lady Jowitt, the Speaker of the House of Commons (Colonel D. Clifton Brown) and Mrs Clifton Brown, were hosts in a historic setting with-paint-ings of Trafalgar. Waterloo, and statues of dead English Kings looking down on the meeting of Parliamentarians from Britain and Communist Russia. _ Mr Kuznetzov, chairman of the Russian Council of Nationalities, said the Russians had the warmest feeling for the people pf Britain and" hoped the visit would strengthen the bond between the countries. Lord Jowitt welcomed the delegates “particularly in memory of the war’s comradeship.” • , , , . “War-time Londoners truly stood in the front line against Fascist Germany and Soviet citizens will never forget their heroic conduct during those terrible days,” said Mr N. P. Bazan, a member of the Soviet delegation, when the London County Council entertained the delegates at luncheon in the County Hall, Westminster. “I am also sure that the memory will never be deleted from British minds of the terrible struggle the Soviet people endured against Hitlerite Germany.”
