CHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD Enthusiastic reference to the programme at the race meeting held on the Riccarton racecourse on July -27 was made by members of the Christchurch Hunt Club at the* annual meeting. The report said the club . should be proud to feel that the meeting had been a real steeplechase meeting, their being tour jumping events on the programme and also because it wd> the only club in New Zealand v’hicii rar an amateur steeple enase. In spite of much criticism before the meeting this race was voted a great success. Moving the adoption of the report, Mr Gilbert Grigg said hunting had been successfully resumed after a lapse of six years. The sport was marred by an outbreak of distemper in the pack. He thanked the farmers for the support accorded the club and for the offering of their country to be run over. The first season of the huntsman, Mr J. McLean, promised well, Mr Grigg said. He felt sure that there were good prospects for an excellent season’s hunting for members. Eight new members -were elected. It was decided to arrange the annual ball on similar lines to last year. On the motion of Mr J. H. Grigg, Longbeach, members unanimously elected Mr J. H. Selby a life member of the club. The duly other live life member is Mr Lt W.
