OBITUARY

MR W. A. ROBERTSON

The death occurred at Greymouth yesterday of Mr William Alexander Robertson, of Fairlie, aged 80 years. Born at Dunedin, Mr Robertson travelled as a child with the waggoners who plied between Dunedin and Gabriel’s Gully in the days of the gold rush. He was for many years engaged in farming on the Taieri plains. Mr Robertson was well known in Masonic Lodge circles in South Canterbury, having been Past Master of Lodge MacKenzie, No. 93, and Past Grand Lodge Officer of Canterbury and New Zealand. He was a widower, and is survived by four sons—Messrs Bob Robertson (Fairlie), John Robertson (Hanmer), William Robertson (Okuru), and. Ernest Robertson (Blenheim), and one daughter, Mrs Charles Sadler (Greymouth). Two sons were killed overseas in the second world war.
