WELCOME TO NEW PASTOR

ST. ALBANS CHURCH OF CHRIST A welcome to the new minister of the Church of Christ. St. Albans (Dr. J. Tyrrell-Baxter), his wife and their three daughters, was extended by members and friends last evening. Mr J. B. Mcßride presided. Greetings were received from Pastors J. Crawford, F. E. Slattery and lA. D. Lowe (former ministers of the i Church), the general executive of the Associated Churches of Christ, Prin- | cipal A. L. Haddon (Dunedin) and the I Canterbury Youth Church of Christ. Representatives from churches at Ashburton, Beckenham, Moorhouse Avenue, the Sisters’ Guild, and Baptist [Church (St. Albans), were present. ; Dr. and Mrs Tyrrell-Baxter left New | Zealand in’ 1939 and have been in the United States ever since. Dr. TyrrellBaxter was doing post-graduate work at Butler University, the University bf Indiana, and Harvard University. In 4943 he enlisted in the United States army, serving in the Chaplains’ Corps. , He served in the European canpaign and later in the Philippines.
