OFFICIAL FORECASTS “ The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON, Jan. 23. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 pm. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. A trough of low pressure is advancing eastwards across re south Tasman Sea. Forecast to p.m.: moderate north-east winds prevailing. Weather fine, apart from patches of morning low cloud. Temperatures mild or warm during the >' afternoon. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate or fresh north-west winds. Weather cloudy with scattered showers developing in the south. Temperatures mild. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday with a strong north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 64.2 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear, with a moderate north-east wind. The barometer, steady, registered 30.06 inches (1018.0 millibars).
