POLICE FIRE ON STUDENTS

DEMONSTRATION IN CALCUTTA (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Jan. 21. The police fired in Calcutta this afternoon after the repeated use of tear gas and lathi charges failed to stop students demonstrating in favour of the Nationalists in Indo-China from attempting to reach the university. Thirty-five students, including four with bullet wounds, reported and were admitted to the university hospital. The police arrested about 100 students, including 15 girls.
