AWARD OF GEORGE MEDAL
PALESTINE POLICE SERGEANT
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 21. Sergeant Edward Alfred Smith, of the Palestine Police, has been awarded the George Medal for the rescue of three injured soldiers from the ruins of the King David Hotel, Jerusalem, after the explosion last year. Sergeant Smith spent six hours tunnelling under the debris in dust and explosive fumes, disregarding the constant danger of further explosions, fire, and the collapse of the tunneL
