OBITUARY

MR E. J. CARR (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Jan. 22. Known throughout New Zealand for his unflagging work for former servicemen, Mr E. J. Carr died at his home at New Plymouth early this morning. Towards the end of last year illhealth compelled him to retire from the secretaryship of the New Plymouth Returned Services’ Association, a post he had filled with conspicuous ability for 24 years. MR H. L. RICHARDSON (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., Jan. 22. Mr Harry Lindley Richardson. R.8.A., art master at 'the Palmerston North Technical School since 1928. and formerly \art master at the Wellington Technical School, died at Palmerston North to-day. He was aged 68 years. He was born in London, the son of an artist, and was educated at Dulwich, the Westminster School of Art. Goldsmith’s School of Art, and Julian’s Academy, Paris. In 1905 he was appointed to the Society of British Artists. He exhibited his work in many centres in England and New Zealand, including the Royal Academy. Mr Richardson was the designer of an issue of New Zealand postage stamps and illustrated several publications.
