OPPOSITION PARTIES IN N.S.W.
AMALGAMATION MOVE FAILS (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) _ (Rec. 7.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 21. Negotiations for the amalgamation of the Liberal and Country Parties in New South Wales have broken down. Representatives of the Liberal Party strongly urged amalgamation, but the Country Party made separate proposals that each -should maintain separate identity. In addition, the Country Party proposed that in the event of a succearful. appeal to the electors a coalition Government nased on an agreed policy and led by the leader of the coalition parties at the election should be formed, and that the allocating of portfolios and other offices should be on the basis of equality between th e parties.
