VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
FIELDMARSHAL MONTGOMERY DISCUSSIONS WITH GOVERNMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. Si. The Chief of the Imperial General Staff (Field-Marshal Lord Montgomery) will spend a fortnight in New Zealand in July, during which he will discuss defence questions with tne New Zealand Government and the military chiefs of •staff. * The Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) said to-night that advice had been received by the Government that Field-
Marshal Montgomery would leave the United Kingdom on June 26 and afrlVe in Australia On July 1. He would arrive in New Zealand from Australia by air on July 16 and leave on July 31. He was due back in the United Kingdom on August 5. Mr Fraser said he hoped Field-Mar-shal Montgomery, who would be a guest of the New Zealand Government, would be able to see as much of the oountry as possible. Arrangements for his visit would be made by the Government, and a programme would be drawn up in due course.
