ALMOND PASTE

Sir,— A short time ago a notice appeared m your paper regarding a cer+uin almond paste which had been on the market in Auckland, which it was thought not safe to use. I have a packet of nut paste, almond-flavoured which I wish to put on a birthday cake this week. Could you advise me if this almond paste, manufactured in Christchurch, would be quite safe to use?—Yours, etc., T INQUIRER. January 20, 1947. [“The paste referred to is a flavoured cachou paste,” said an officer of the Health Department, when this letter was referred to the department for comment. “This imitation almond paste is quite safe.”] POLAND’S DESTRUCTION Sir, —While the Polish elections are m progress it was not my intention to continue discussing the above question. However, after reading the article on page eight of “The Press” of Saturday, headed “Polish Politics,”' I decided that that article would be a good answer to “D.H.C.’s” letter in “The Press” to-day.—Yours,, etc., « T JAS - HILL. Belfast, January 20, 1947.
