DUKE OF KENT HELPS MAGICIAN

PERFORMANCE AT LONDON THEATRE (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, January 20. When Jasper Maskylene, a wellknown magician, called for “helpers” during a matinee performance at the Victoria Palace Theatre, the first of several small boys who clambered eagerly on to the stage was an 11-year-pld youngster who, rather obviously, was wearing his first suit of long trousers. The boy in long pants helped the magician to padlock a girl assistant inside a box and while a screen was put round the box he stood at one side of the stage. When the screen was removed a few moments later and the girl was found sitting on top of the box, the boy examined the box, looked at the magician, and smiled. It was not until he left the stage that it was known that the eager juvenile helper was the young Duke of Kent. The Duke afterwards sent a message to the magician thanking him for his entertainment.
