SPECIAL POWERS ASSUMED
ACTION BY BENGAL GOVERNMENT (Rec. 7 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Jan. 19. The Bengal Government has assumed special powers to detain any person without trial or restrict any man’s movements or associations with others, and activities in relation to news or the propagation of opinion. The powers are intended to prevent anyone acting in a “prejudicial manner.”
