“GLENELG”

NEW WING TO BE BUILT A permit for the building of a new dormitory wing at “Glenelg” Health ’Camp has been granted, and tenders for the erection of the wing will be called within the next few weeks. This announcement was made last night at a meeting of the Sunlight League Health Camp Committee by the chairman, Miss M. Enright. The new wing will accommodate 12 children, making the total capacity of the camp 42, and the cost of its erection is being borne partly by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Christchurch and partly by the King George V Memorial Trust Board. A sub-committee, comprising the chairman, the secretary (Miss M. McNaughton), Miss B. Nurse, and the matron (Mrs E. Morrison), was set up to go into the matter of necessary furnishings and equipment for the new dormitory. It was decided that letters of thanks be sent to the Christchurch Savage Club,, Avonside Girls’ High School, and Mr Maurice Hollander for providing toys for the children in camp at Christmas, and to Mr G. M. Hall, who was a kindly “Father Christmas” at the Christmas party. It was reported that Christchurch was leading in the number of hea’ stamps sold so far during the present campaign, with Auckland second and Wellington and Dunedin filling third and fourth places. Members decided to renew their efforts to sell the remaining stamps within the next few weeks.
