THIEVES AT WORK

PREMISES BROKEN INTO TWO MOTOR-CARS STOLEN The preinises of Guthrie, Bowron and Co., Ltd., corner of Worcester street and Manchester street, were broken into during the week-end, and about £lO in money was stolen after the thieves had forced the door of a safe. The premises of Chemists Supplies Co., Ltd., 139 Worcester street, and A. J. Pickering, engineers merchants, whose offices are in Whitcombe and Tombs’s buildings in Colombo street, were also broken into, but it is not known whether anything was taken. Motor-cars belonging to Mr Eric Bentley, 200 Avonhead road, and Mr R. G. Crawford, 15 Bowen street, both at Upper Riccarton, were stolen on Saturday night, and when recovered three of the four wheels on each car were missing. Mr Bentley’s car was found in Waimairi road and the other in Dyer’s road, Bromley.
