AID FOR ITALIAN INDUSTRY
AMERICA TO GRANT CREDIT
(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 14. Less than three hours before the Italian Prime Minister, Mr de Gasperi, was due to fly home after his conference with president Truman and other officials, the Export-Import
Bank of Washington announced that it had approved the granting to Italy of a credit of 100.000,000 dollars to aid “specific segments of Italian industry.” The bank told the Italian Foreign Trade Minister, Mr Pietro Campilli, that only industries which could expand their exports and thus earn foreign exchange to repay the credits would receive assistance.
