ATTITUDE OF OTHER UNIONS
SUPPORT GIVEN BY GLASSWORKERS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 15. Some diversion of trade union sympathy in the national waterfront dispute is becoming apparent in Auckland. Watersiders secured the support of the Auckland Glassworkers’ Union yesterday, but more definite indications of the balance of opinion on the crisis should become clear after several unions, which have called meetings for this week, determine their attitude. If the dispute ends in a deadlock the glassworkers’ union will give whole-hearted support to the New Zealand Watersiders’ Union. This decision was made at the fortnightly stop-work meeting of 250 members at Penrose when the watersiders’ case was explained by Mr B. Bray, a member of the Auckland executive of the Watersiders’ Union.
