ROCKET TESTS IN AUSTRALIA
“NO MENACE TO ANY PART OF COUNTRY ”
(Rec. 10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 14. The leader of the British rocket team in Australia, Lieutenant-General J. F. Evetts, is confident that tests on the new range will not menace any part of Australia. He said that the rockets, which were a close secret and entirely British, arrive for many months. Only projectiles without warheads would be used. The Guided Projectile Committee and the Director of Native Affairs would report to the Federal Cabinet tq, protect the welfare of aborigines. German V2 rockets would not be used, as they "had been fully tested in Germany.
