The Minister of Labour (Mr George Isaacs) attended a joint consultation of employers and union officials, who agreed, according to a Ministry announcement, to meet to-morrow morning to discuss immediately the establishment of joint voluntary machinery additional to the Wages Board, subject to a “ e I r J 1 P lo J e *’ s condition that negotiations for a settlement should not begin until the strikers have resumed work. The legal position prevents the Wages Board from making any decision until the statutory period for objections to its previous decisions, which led to the strike, elapses. A union branch official told Reuters that the stoppage of work by 1000 Billingsgate fish porters would bring the total of London strikers to 20,000.
