Brigadier G. H. Clifton, N.Z.S.C., returned to Auckland yesterday after relinquishing a position on the general ;• staff of the British Occupation Force in Japan.—(P.A.) Congratulations to Sir James Hight and Mr J. E. Strachan on their inclusion in the New Year Honours List were extended at a meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board of Governors yesterday. Sir James Hight was previously a member of the board, and Mr Strachan is still a member, Mr H. S. S. Kyle was re-elected for a further term as chairman of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board of Governors at a meeting of the board yesterday. The resignations of Mr C. Morgan Williams 'and Mr C. E. Iversen, were accepted with regret at a meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural College Board of Governors yesterday. Mr Williams had represented the Legislature, and Mr Iversen, who will shortly join the staff of the college, represented former students and diploma holders.
