ACCIDENTS

TRUCK AND CAR COLLIDE ONE KILLED, FOUR INJURED One man was killed and four persons were injured in a collision shortly before 6.55 p.m. yesterday between a motor-car and a truck on the corner of Linwod avenue and St. John’s street. Woolston. The man killed was Albert Buckley, a warehouseman, of 39 St. James street, Avonside. Those injured were:— Mrs Edith Buckley, an elderly woman, of 39 St. James street (fractured left arm and shock). Mrs Vera Joyce Walsh, young married woman, of 38 St. James street (head injuries and fractured jaw). Janet Walsh, aged three years (fractured forearm). Peggy Walsh, aged four years (head injuries and shock). Those injured were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, and late last evening were reported to be on the seriously ill list with the exception of Janet Walsh, whose condition was given as satisfactory.
