NO SETTLEMENT REACHED

DISCUSSIONS HELD IN WELLINGTON UNION <(ND FEDERATION OF LABOUR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. No settlement of the waterfront dispute over the guaranteed wage has yet been reached. Discussions between the executives of the Federation of Labour and the New Zealand Waterside Workers Union were held to-day and will continue to-morrow. “The situation is unchanged,” said Mr H. Barnes, president of the Waters side Workers’ Union to-night. ‘‘The 40-hour week policy continues.” the National secretary, Mr T. Hill, said the discussions were not yet finished. The waterfront dispute on the guaranteed wage was discussed yesterday between the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) and members of the national executive of the Federation of Labour. After the conference Mr Fraser said he had no comment to make.
