Task Force, Wade Lane, Lady Ngaio, Absolutely, and Paddy Potts for more than a mile in the 3min 39sec race at Addington yesterday, Gold Peg improved her position over the last three furlongs, and once the straight was reached she finished on well to win nicely from Paddy Potts. Gold Peg has raced consistently this season for a win and three second placings in five starts, and she should soon add to her good record. Trained at New Brighton The Jack Potts gelding, Peter Potts, which is trained at New Brighton by G. Cameron, showed some improvement when he won the first division of the 2min 59sec class pace from Naughty Girl at the matinee meeting. Naughty Girl gave an encouraging display, and she should win at least ohe race at the Westport meeting. The second division was won by Loyai Guest from Calworth, with Lyceum and Maudeen close up. Calworth, which ’s now trained by N. C. Price, is a likely improver. Lyceum needs only to begin correctly to win his share of races. After losing about 48 yards when he struck trouble shortly after the start.

Volo Lad, which was making his first appearance since being purchased by Mr H. W. Drewery, settled down quickly; and in an interesting finish he stayed on well to win the third division from Sea View, Loyal Anthem, and Matavani. A five-year-old gelding, Volo Lad is by Lusty Volo from Wild Child, the dam of a family of winners including Royal Parade. Streamline, Sure Potts, and Catalpa Should Win Soon

With better luck in the running of the Snowdon Trot Handicap at the Hororata Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. Tungsten Steel would have made Final Count’s task much harder. Driven by C. M. Laing, who now trains this Quite Sure gelding for Messrs R. Sutherland and A. Henderson, Tungsten Steel was following Emily Volo. Sir Carol and Lottie Jinks with a furlong covered, and with five furlongs to go he was in sixth place. Laing could not find an opening for him until well into the straight, but once he got clear. Tungsten Steel finished well to get within a length and a half of Final Count. L. F. Berkett’s Minoru showed some speed to earn third prize. A six-year-old son of Quite Sure and Princess Mauritius, Minoru lost about 36 yards when he broke at the start; but he quickly made up his handicap to follow Emily Volo at the end of a mile. Minoru is a useful type, and he should prove hard to beat in the Thames Handicap at the Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting .on Saturday. Colt Foals Destroyed

Mrs M. Snell’s colt foals by Jack Potts from Erinack and by Quite Sure from Marie Antoinette both met with accidents and had to be destroyed.
