POSTAL SERVICE A request is to be made by the Lyttelton Borough Council to the Post and Telegraph Department to have the postal boxes in the town cleared in time for the morning delivery daily, and that two deliveries by letter carriers daily be restored.
Roll of Honour Unveiled A roll of honour, bearing the names of 39 members who served in the Second World’War, was unveiled at the Lyttelton Club on Monday night by the president, Mr T. C. Voyce, in the presence of about 100 members. Before the unveiling, the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) gave a short address. The hymns, "O God. Our Help in Ages Past” And "Abide With Me, were sung, the accompaniments being played by the Lyttelton Marine Band, and "Last Post” and "Reveille’’ were sounded by Mr F. Oakley. The roll bears the names of the following five members who gave their lives: A. C. P. Dale. J. Neville, W. C. Toy. J. Dougal, A. Illingworth.
