The weather forecast fqj Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meterological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a deep depression south-east of the Chatham Islands. A second depression is moving on to New Zealand from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh south-westerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with some scattered drizzle on the coast. Temperatures rather cold. Further outlook: still unsettled. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to moderate northerly winds predominating. Weather cloudy, with some scattered rain developing, and becoming heavy at times. Temperatures rather cool. Further outlook: unsettled, with further rain.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER
The weather was cloudy yesterday morning but fine apart from some showers in the early morning. There was a moderate south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 52.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the’ sky was overcast, with a light west-north-west wind. The barometer was steady at 29.60 inches (1002.4 millibars).
