COMMANDO PATTERN MOTOR-CYCLE.—A miniature motorcycle of the pattern used by British Army commandos and paratroopers during the war. The machine, probably the first of its kind to be seen in Christchurch, was brought to New Zealand by an Army officer who was in charge of a paratroop unit in India. These photographs show the motor-cycle folded for carrying (it can be lifted with one hand), and being ridden in Tuam street. On flat ground a speed of 35 miles an hour can be attained, and the petrol consumption is about 150 miles to the gallon.
