LONDON STREET. SQUATTERS HOLD UP TRAFFIC.—A section of the crowd of about 2000 squatters and their supporters who demonstrated at Abbey Lodge, St. John’s Wood, London, on the night of September 12. The demonstration took the form of a sit-down obstruction moVe. Mounted police were called out to clear the street for the passage of traffic. The squatters’ leaders at first vainly appealed tq the crowd to stop sitting on the road, but later the demonstrators dispersed after an appeal had been made by one Of their organisers, who spoke through a loud-speaker mounted on a van.
