Final Settlement Not Reached FIREMEN’S AND COOKS’ WAGES (N.Z. Pres* Association— Copyright) (Rec. 10.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept T 9. Although the Atlantic Coast shipowners immediately accepted the arbitrators' award making the American Federation of Labour and the Congress of Industrial Organisations maritime unions’ wage rates equal, actual settlement of the shipping strike was prevented by C. 1.0. and National Maritime Union s refusal to reach final agreement until the Pacific Coast Firemen’s Union and Cooks’ and Stewards’ Unions, which are also on strike, receive rates of pay equal to those of A.F.L. workers.
