U.S. DECORATIONS
AWARD TO NEW ZEALANDERS
DISTINGUISHED MILITARY SERVICE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept 19. In a private ceremony to be held at his home at Featherston on Sunday, October 6, the American Minister, the Hon. Avra M. Warren, will confer American awards for distinguished military service in the Allied Cause upon the following members of the New Zealand armed services:— Legion of Merit, Degree of Commander Lieutenant-General Sir Edward Puttick. Major-General Peter Harvey'Bell. Legion of Merit, Degree of Officer Brigadier Henry Esau Avery. Brigadier Graham Beresford Parkinson. Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred John Coutts. Lieutenant-Colonel Haddon Vivian Donald. Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Lewis Hutchins. • Air Medal and Purple Heart Sergeant Arthur J. Adams. Bronze Star Brigadier William George Gentry. Flight Lieutenant Petrick Thomas Curran. Captain George Alexander Kirk Kelly. Captain Thomas Hanger. Captain Henry Alexander McDonald Mitchell. Captain Robert Lindsay Fenwick. The posthumous award of the Air Medal and Purple Heart to Sergeant Adams, who was killed in action while a member ol the American armed forces, will be received by his mother. Mrs Adele F. Adams, of Christchurch. At the ceremony, addresses will be given by the Prime Minister and by the American Minister.
