PROTEST BY BRITISH IN BERLIN

PRESS ARTICLES IN SOVIET SECTOR

LONDON, August 20. “Britain made a formal protest against anti-British articles appearing in Russian-controlled newspapers in the Russian-controlled sector of Berlin at a meeting to-day of the Allied deputy commanders,” says Reuter’s correspondent in Berlin. “The British deputy commander said that the articles accused the newspapers in the British sector of ‘following Goebbels’s line of propaganda’ concerning the story of ‘kidnapped’ German children in Russian-occupied Brandenburg. “The Russian deputy replied that the articles were merely published ‘in defence’ after allegations in British-con-trolled newspapers.”
