All persons at present keeping records of rainfall, whether for official meteorological purposes or otherwise, are requested to communicate with the under? signed, giving name, address, and the type of rain gauge in use. Any person living in the country district not at present operating a rain gauge, but who would be prepared to keep official records, is invited also to communicate with the undersigned. Arrangements will be made for a rain gauge to be issued to any such person, provided that the location fits in with the Board’s pattern of records. The Board’s district extends approximately from the Waitaki river to the Rakaia river, and inland to the crest of Hunters Hills, Dalgety Range, Two Thumb Range, and headwaters of the Rangitata and Ashburton Rivers.
