“IMPUDENT OFFENCE”

FINE OF £75 FOR BUILDING BREACH (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 21.

“The offence seems to have been a most impudent one,” said Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., giving a reserved decision to-day on information brought on August 2 against R. J. Kerridge who, it was alleged, proceeded with the construction of a bathing shed without a permit from a local authority. Kerridge was fined £75 and costs. The Magistrate said he had viewed the locality. It had been stated in evidence that first-class bricks were used, and he could see no reason to qualify that evidence.

After commenting that the materials used in the construction of the bathing shed might have been used for housing, the Magistrate said: “This was a perfectly flagrant breach of the regulations and should be punished accordingly.”
