UNREST AMONG TRAMWAYMEN
RELATIONS WITH MANAGEMENT. .
ACTION. THREATENED A threat that “unless a marked improvement is shown: to reflations between the management and employees of the Christchurch Tramway Board, something more drastic will eventuate,” was made in a resolution passed at two meetings, held on Tuesday, of day and night shifts o.“ the Christchurcn Tramway Employees’ Union. The resolution expressed grave concern at unrest in the service. When the union’s resolution was referred last evening to Mr H. Kitson (chairman) and Mr H. E. Jarman (general manager), of the Tramway Board, they declined to make any comment. “It is strange that the union should put this in the paper, when its secretary and president are meeting the chairman and myself to-morrow morning, although it may be that the matters raised in the statement are not proposed for discussion,” said Mr Jarman. “I have no comment to make at the moment, but a statement will probably be made after we have had an opportunity of considering the union's statement.”
