J. Wilson started Acclamation, the New Zealand Trotting Stakes winner, in this event, and she gave a high-class display. Jacks Son showed that he is not far from his best by beating Trusty Scott, Nelsonova, and Ben Adam over a mile a nd a half in 3min 28sec, covering the last half mile in Imin 3sec. Trusty Scott looks well and he should be prominent in his coming engagements. Jottings After his good display to beat all but Turco in the Linwood Handicap at Addington on April 20, Native Scott is sure to be well supported in the Winter Handicap on Saturday. Bonny Clare’s 3min 16 2-ssec for a mile and a half when she finished second to Limerick’s Pride in the Rakaia Trot at Ashburton on May 4 entitles her to consideration for the Wai-iti Trot at Washdyke on Saturday. Quite So, which will race in the interests of Mrs M. V. Dunlop, is a six-year-old gelding by Quite Sure from Muriel de Oro, the dam of Gamester. Except for On Approval, all of O. E. Hooper’s team are spelling. Princess Maritza has been placed in her last five starts, and she should show up from the 12 yards mark ir> the Fendalton Handicap on Saturday. A 3min 56sec and a 3min 50sec class for trotters are included on the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s winter meeting programme. Fresh from her successful trip at Auckland, Mistydale should race well in the Elevation Handicap on Saturday. Proposals for Commission Delegates representing the trotting clubs of the Dominion met in Wellington yesterday to discuss proposals affecting the welfare of trotting which will be placed before the Gaming Commission. The meeting was not open to the press. It was presided over by the president of the Trotting Conference (Mr H. F. Nicoll), who declined to make a statement at the end of proceedings.—(P.A.) Winning Form C. S. Donald has Tolerate in splendid order, and although he is meeting a better class of trotter at Addington on Saturday than he beat at Oamaru, this Gamble gelding sticks to his gait under pressure and should finish in a place. Only a five-year-old, he has started in 14 races this season for two u’ins and eight minor placings. Strange Driver

Ben Adam was driven in his trial at Ashburton yesterday by J. Bell, who has been engaged to drive him in his engagements at the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday. This was the first time Bell had driven the Grattan Loyal gelding, which showed some speed over the closing stages, after making a bad break at the start. Kept Busy

Besides Dilbar, Wainoni Lass, and Sunny Glen, the New Brighton trainer, R. M. Cook, is handling a three-year-old gelding by Sandydale and a six-year-old mare by Calumet Axworth, which are both out of Silk Bonny, the dam of Bonnie Jack. Cook has Sunny Glen well forward and the Iron Ore gelding should soon start to pay his way. Winning Family

Loyal Direct, the dam of the three-year-old gelding Single Direct, which has created a good impression in the Auckland district by recording three wins and a second placing in his four starts this season, was bred at Spreydon by the late J. J. Kennerley. By Grattan Loyal she is from Rarebell Direct, an Australianbred mare which left a family of winners, including Rare Pronto, Directum, Isobel Derby, and Great Deceiver.

Well-bred Youngsters C. M. Laing recently registered his three-year-old gelding by Logan Fraser from Thelma Axworthy as Nostradamus. The career of this youngster will be followed with interest, as his half-brother, Scott Axworthy, by U Scott, is one of the fastest pacers in his class. Thelma Axworthy, their dam, is by Travis Ax-wo.-thy from Lady Bee, by Great Audubon from Lady Sybil, by Rothschild from the Kentucky mare, Thelma.

The same trainer will race his two-year-old gelding by Nelson Eddy from Rainstorm as Gay Note. Rainstorm, which is by Frank Worthy from Bell Harvester, was successful as a pacer and on one occasion on the Oamaru course returned her supporters a win dividend of over a century. Although he does not race a large team, Laing has collected £1595 in stakes this season. WiU Not Start S. Webster, who trains War Glory at Tinwald, said at the trials at Ashburton yesterday that the Brilliant Globe colt is still suffering from a leg injury he received some time ago, and that he definitely would not start in the Juvenile Handicap at Addington on Saturday. The injury has proved more serious than was at first suspected, and unless he makes a quick recovery War Glory will be unable to . compete in the Sapling Stakes at the Ashburton Trotting Club’s winter meeting. Stayed on Well Dandy Grattan finished particularly well at Auckland -on February 9 to win the Rangitoto Handicap, of two miles, by a short head from Rita Grattan, in 4min 31sec, after making a slow beginning. This performance indicates his chances in the Ellesmere Handicap on Saturday. The Grattan Loyal gelding will meet some improving pacers in this race, but he is a speedy youngster, and should at least get a place. Exciting Finish The stablemates, Margaret Hall and Acropolis, were seen in an exciting finish in the Farewell Handicap at Auckland on Saturday. The betting was confined to W. R. Butt’s bracket, and the local candidate, Great Belwin, and between them they carried nearly two-thirds of the pool. Te Roto led to the six furiongs post in Imin 46sec, with Margaret Hall and Great Belwin handy. Margaret Hall, driven by J. B. Pringle, was first into the straight, btit Acropolis soon challenged, and in a rousing finish finished only a nose behind the mare. A length and a half away Great Belwin just held off Double Peter, which made a splendid effort. Bred at New Brighton Mr E. G. Rumsey has claimed Black Sand as the name of his two-year-old gelding, by Sandydale from Shadow Queen, which was bred at New Brighton by R. J. Kerr. Shadow Queen was bred at Winchmore by A. J. Wilson, and is by Rey de Oro from Placid, which left winners in Royal Serene to Realm and Real Huon to Denver Huon. Placid was bred in 1916 by Mr Wilson, and the Stud Book simply records that she is by Calm from a Black Cave mare. May Win Again Making his first appearance m a race, Carisbrook attracted attention at the Combined Christchurch Trotting Clubs’ matinee meeting when he finished strongly to win the New Zealand Metropolitan Handicap from Betty Ducrow after being third into the straight; and on that performance he must be conceded a chance in the Peninsula Handicap on Saturday. Trained at Addington by E. Berry for Mr A H. V. Berry, Carisbrook is by Grattan Loyal from Lu Parrish, which left another winner in Loyal Lu to Quite Sure. Begins Slowly Lucky Loyal handicaps himself by beginning slowly in his races, but once he warms up to his work there are few pacers capable of going with him. The Grattan Loyal gelding has only been out of the money in four of his 14 starts this season, and if W. R. Butt can persuade him to go away smartly in the Winter Handicap on Saturday, he should be handy at the finish I-

Blind Fury, which will race in the interests of Messrs W and A. J. Mortimer, was bred by Mr G. Youngson, Wendonside, and is a five-year-old gelding by Dillon Hall from Gertrude, which is by Adioo Guy from Gratitude, by Harold Direct from Jane Walkes. Gertrude has been an unfortunate producer, as her first foal by Sandydale died, and in 1941 she had a dead foal by Dillon Hall.
