RUSSIAN TANKER DETAINED
NEW YORK, May 6. The “Journal American” says the State Department has issued a statement explaining that the Navy is detaining the Russian tanker Taganrog outside the Los Angeles breakwater because the ship is a Soviet naval vessel which endeavoured to enter the harbour without the required clearances.
“The effrontery of this vessel is contrasted with the harsh restrictions imposed pn American ships in Russian ports, where, for instance, members of the crew are not permitted to land,” comments the “Journal American.”
