OFFICIAL FORECASTS * The Press ' Special Service WELLINGTON, May 7. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone over Victoria extends on to the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough is now east of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh southerly winds. Weather dull and cold, with intermittent rain. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate southerly winds. Weather improving to fine from the south during the morning. Temperatures cool. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and calm yesterday until the late afternoon, when a fresh south-westerly breeze sprang up. The maximum temperature was 67.8 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast with light rain and a moderate south-west breeze. The barometer was steady at 29.6® inches (1002.4 millibars).
