Visit of Harbour Experts
He hoped to announce in the coming week the time of arrival of the expected English harbour engineers, who had been secured by the Government to report on West Coast harbours with the idea of bringing about improved harbour facilities, said the Hon. J. O’Brien, in the course of a political address at Greymouth last evening. He added that there had been some delay in securing experts because of the Imperial Government’s needs for reports on overseas harbours, but now there appeared some prospects of an early release of experts’ reports on harbours on the West Coast, which he hoped would eventually assist in the establishment of permanent suitable harbours. He paid a tribute to local attempts to promote better harbour facilities.
