Mr S. V. Raines, No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, will conduct sittings this week at Nelson. Blenheim. Kaikoura, and Cheviot. Mr Maurice Heenan was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court yesterday by Mr Justice Fair, on the motion of Mr A. C. Perry. Mr J. R. Lester will leave Christchurch this morning for Invercargill to judge the elocution sections at the Invercargill Competitions Society’s festival. Mr C. E. Pope was re-elected president of the Christchurch Tomato and Stone Fruit Qrowers’ Association at the annual meeting'pf the association recently. Mr Pope has attended every meeting of the association since its inception 19 years ago and has been chairman during most of that time. Appreciative reference was made of the work of Mr P. L. C Inder, who had been secretary-treasurer of the Christchurch Tomato and Stone Fruit Growers’ Association for the last five years, at the annual meeting of the association recently. It was agreed to place on record an appreciation of Mr Inder’s services.
