<P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 4. Major the Hon. G. N. C. Wignun. M C-, Military Secretary to the Covernor - General- designate ILieutenantGeneral Sir Bernard Freyberg) and Mrs Wigram with their two children, have arrived at Government House.
Cabled advice has been received In Christchurch of the death of Mr Ernest Makower, chairman of directors of Makower, Mcßeath and Company, Ltd., Wellington. Mr Makower, who was a frequent visitor to New Zeeland, had wide experience of the •ilk trade throughout the world. He was chairman of the musical section of the British Council and a fellow of •the Society of Antiquaries.
