COMMISSIONS IN J FORCE
EXTENDED SERVICE REQUIRED
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 4. Candidates for commissions in the New Zealand brigade group now in Japan are being informed that if they qualify from the Officer Cadet Training Unit they will be required to serve in Japan for a further 12 to 18 months. Advice to this effect was received in Auckland to-day from 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force men who were sent from Italy and who have been selected for officer training. The men affected are concerned about the extra period of service, especially as many have been overseas several years.
It is possible that a few New Zealand officers may be able to enter the Indian Army from J Force.
