PRIORITY PASSAGES ON SHIPS
BRITISH MINISTRY CRITICISED (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, May 3. The British Ministry of Information has been accused by the Minister of Immigration (Mr A. A. Calwell) of a highly improper practice.' Mr Colwell alleged that the British Ministry of Information and the "Melbourne Herald” had obtained priority passages to Australia from England for two Englishmen and their families. The men were the former 8.8. C. commentator, Mr Derek Prentice, and a former employee of the British Ministry of Information, Mr Alan Bell, both of whom, Mr Calwell alleged, had come to Australia to work for the "Melbourne Herald.”
“The British wives of Australian servicemen should have got the berths allotted to Mr Bell and Mr Prentice and their wives,” said Mr Calwell
