MARKETING OF EGGS
ALL ASPECTS TO BE CONSIDERED PROVISIONAL COMMITTEE APPOINTED ft. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 3. To prepare a plan for the future marketing of eggs and poaalbly poultry, a provisional committee consisting of six members of the New Zealand Poultry Board and six Government nominees, three of whom are consumers’ representatives, has been set up by the Government The committee, which will hold its first meeting on May 8, will consider all aspects of egg marketing, including distribution, quality, price, and pulping. It is expected that it will recommend that it should remain in operation permanently. It is considered likely that the committee will formulate a policy for the marketing of poultry both for domestic use and for export. A set of export standards has already been prepared by the Poultry Board In conjunction with the Department of Agriculture. Members of the Poultry Board are Messrs W. G. Spencer (chairmen), T. S. Dove, T. Gill, A. J. Severn (producers’ representatives). D. G. Begley, J. W. McGllnchy (Government representatives). Additional members on the provisional committee are Messrs R. P. Fraser (Director of internal Marketing), J. W. McConnon (Internal Marketing Division). L. Munro (Prine Tribunal), W. Higgle (growers), N. Bell (pastrycooks) and Mrs L. Bennett (consumers). Mr Fraser will be the chairman, but will not have a casting vote.
